Lean Green Breakfast Smoothie

I live down the street from my brother, so he and his roommates get overflow baked goods. Kinda often. Usually, it’s pretty good.

But you ask my brother if I’ve ever made anything bad, and, without fail, he will tell you the Green Smoothie. Apparently, when I was younger, I made a green smoothie and it tasted like grass. I have no memory of this, so I can’t actually confirm this. I’m sure it was actually not that bad.

Fast forward to this year. I really liked to make congee for breakfast, but I got tired of it. I wanted to find something with the same high protein, but I don’t really like cereal all that much. And eggs don’t really have all that much protein.

Enter greek yogurt. And fruit. Blend and you get a high protein, high fiber, low calorie, delicious breakfast. It comes out to about 230 calories, but it keeps you full! Greenness optional.


Note – When you’re buying Greek yogurt, check the nutrition information. Yogurt can hide a lot of sneaky calories and sugar that probably doesn’t need to be there. I really like Chobani, but it’s a little on the pricier side.



  • 1 cup (227 grams) Greek Yogurt
  • 1 cup (145 grams) frozen fruit
  • A handful spinach (optional)
  • About a 1/2 cup to 3/4 cup water


  1. Blend in blender until smooth. Pour into a large glass, and enjoy!
